Biography
Prof Asna Urooj is a distinguished academician, researcher, nutritionist and expert in Food and Nutritional sciences with an extensive career spanning over > 3 decades. She has served the University of Mysore, India, in progressively senior academic and administrative positions. Alongside her academic career, she worked as a Consultant Nutritionist at Holdsworth Memorial Hospital and Gopala Gowda Hospital, Mysore.
Her multidisciplinary research focuses on Diabetes and nutritional management of chronic diseases, Millets, Disease- specific functional foods, phytomedicine, and infant foods. Her overarching research aims are to advance scientific knowledge in Food science and nutrition while translating research findings into food industry applications, nutrition counselling, hospital dietetics and community nutrition. She has 226 research papers published in peer-reviewed journals, with 6675 citations and h-index of 42, i 10-index of 100.
Prof Urooj has completed 15 funded research projects supported by both national and international organisations. She has collaborated with the University of Manchester, the University of Reading, and Northwestern University, and has participated in Indo-US and Asian Dietetic practice studies. Her accomplishments have been recognised through several prestigious honours and awards.
